Devadas Kanakala (born on July 30, 1945, and passed away on August 2, 2019) was an acclaimed Indian actor hailing from Andhra Pradesh. He was best known for his significant contributions to Telugu language cinema and television. Notably, he played a crucial role in mentoring and shaping the careers of prominent actors like Rajnikanth, Chiranjeevi, and Rajendra Prasad, imparting valuable acting skills.

Devadas Kanakala was not only a prolific actor but also an accomplished acting coach. His dedication to the art of acting was evident through his founding of an acting school in Hyderabad, India. This institution played a pivotal role in nurturing and honing the talents of aspiring actors.

In addition to his legacy in the world of entertainment, Devadas Kanakala was a loving father to actors Rajeev Kanakala and Sri Laxmi. He was also the father-in-law of renowned TV anchor Suma Kanakala.

His wife, Lakshmi Kanakala, assumed the role of the school’s principal until her passing in 2018, further contributing to the institution’s success and influence in the field of acting.
