Dawn Vincent

Biography:

Dawn Vincent is an Indian music composer and sound designer, primarily working in the Malayalam film industry. He is an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, and a certified pianist from Trinity College London.

Born in Kochi, Kerala, to Vincent John and Sheena Nancy, Dawn grew up alongside his younger brother, Navin Vincent—a structural engineer and an 8th-grade solo guitarist, also certified by Trinity College London. Dawn is married to Priscilla Vaddadi, an animation director based in Canada.

He completed his schooling at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar, Kochi, where he actively participated in music as a keyboardist and bass guitarist. During this time, he was a member of a rock band that performed covers of artists such as Metallica, Dream Theater, Slipknot, Green Day, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, along with original compositions. The band earned several accolades in interschool competitions between 2004 and 2008.

Dawn pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Media Technology from Karunya University, Coimbatore, graduating in 2012. He later attended FTII Pune for a Postgraduate course in Sound Recording and Sound Design. During his time there, he was selected for an on-location sound recording project in collaboration with the Internationale Filmschule Köln in Germany.

He began his professional journey composing music for short films and made his entry into the Malayalam film industry by providing the background score for Mundrothuruth: Munroe Island (2016), directed by Manu, alongside FTII colleagues Ashok and Subramanian. His breakthrough came with Adventures of Omanakuttan, where he worked as both the music composer and sound designer, reuniting with his FTII peers—director Rohith V S and cinematographer Akhil George. Since then, Dawn has collaborated with well-known filmmakers including Rajeev Ravi, B. Ajithkumar, and Pramod Thomas.
