Christopher Yost

Biography:

Christopher Lee Yost (born February 21, 1973) is an American writer for film, television, animation, and comic books, best recognized for his contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Thor: The Dark World (2013) and Thor: Ragnarok (2017), as well as for his work on The Mandalorian for Lucasfilm and Disney+.

Yost earned his film and video degree from the University of Michigan in 1995 and began his career in advertising in the Detroit area, creating television commercials. He later pursued a Master of Fine Arts in film from the Peter Stark Producing Program at the University of Southern California. In 2002, he interned at Marvel Comics’ West Coast office, where his spec film scripts caught the attention of Marvel executives, leading to his first professional writing job on the animated series X-Men: Evolution.

Over the years, Yost has written for several animated series, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Batman. He also served as story editor and head writer for Fantastic Four (2006) on Cartoon Network and Iron Man: Armored Adventures. From 2010 to 2012, he was head writer for Marvel Animation’s The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes on Disney XD and contributed to Lucasfilm’s Star Wars Rebels.

Between 2010 and 2012, Yost was part of the Marvel Feature Film Writers Program, after which he transitioned to full-time screenwriting. He co-wrote Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World (2013), wrote Mattel’s Max Steel, and later returned to Marvel for Thor: Ragnarok (2017).

In June 2017, Yost was announced as the writer for an American live-action television adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, developed by Tomorrow Studios—a collaboration between Marty Adelstein and Sunrise Inc., the producers of the original anime. More recently, he has continued his partnership with Lucasfilm on The Mandalorian. In August 2024, Yost and Alan Wan were named showrunners and executive producers of Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Paramount+.
