Christopher Abbott

Biography:

Christopher Jacob Abbott is an American actor who was born on February 10, 1986. He is well-known for his independent film work. Abbott debuted in the Broadway revival of the play The House of Blue Leaves and in the feature film Martha Marcy May Marlene in 2011. James White (2015), a drama film, earned Abbott a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead.

A Most Violent Year (2014), It Comes at Night (2017), Possessor (2020), Black Bear (2020), and Poor Things (2023) were among his supporting appearances. He played astronaut David Scott in the biographical drama film First Man (2018). Abbott was nominated for a Golden Globe for his role as Capt. Yossarian in the 2019 Hulu drama Catch-22. Additionally, he appeared in the USA Network series The Sinner (2017), the Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room (2023), and the HBO series Girls (2012–2016).

The son of Orville Abbott and Anna (née Servidio), Abbott was born in Greenwich, Connecticut. Christina is his older sister. Abbott’s maternal grandmother, Angelina, was born in Rosà, a village in the Italian province of Vicenza, while his father was born in the Caribbean.

He has identified himself as a “Euro-mutt” with lineage from Eastern Europe and distant Portugal. He was raised in Stamford, although his early years were spent in Chickahominy, a working-class, predominately Italian-American area of Greenwich. Abbott worked at his friend’s wine shop and a nearby video store. He studied acting at HB Studio after attending Norwalk Community College. In order to be nearer to school, he relocated to New York City in 2006.
