Chandrachur Singh is an acclaimed Indian actor known for his work in Hindi cinema. Born on October 11, 1968, he received his education at The Doon School in Dehradun and later attended St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi.
In the early 1990s, Singh, who was also a trained classical singer, taught music at Vasant Valley School and history at The Doon School, his alma mater. He made his acting debut in 1996 with “Tere Mere Sapne,” produced under Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited. The same year, he gained widespread recognition for his role in “Maachis,” starring alongside Tabu, earning him the prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.
Singh went on to portray leading roles in several films, including “Daag: The Fire” (1999) with Sanjay Dutt, “Kya Kehna” (2000) opposite Preity Zinta, and “Josh” (2000) alongside Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan, earning him popular acclaim. Despite initial success, his career faced setbacks due to multiple dislocations of his shoulder joint, which occurred during a water skiing accident in Goa. This led to a period of inactivity and weight gain, resulting in fewer film opportunities.
