Chance Perdomo

Chance Perdomo (October 20, 1996 – March 29, 2024) was an American-British actor known for his performances in television and film. He earned a British Academy Television Award nomination for his role in the BBC Three film Killed by My Debt (2018) and gained widespread recognition as Ambrose Spellman in Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018–2020) and Andre Anderson in the first season of Amazon Prime Video’s Gen V (2023). He also starred in the After film series, appearing in After We Fell (2021), After Ever Happy (2022), and After Everything (2023). Perdomo passed away in a motorcycle accident while traveling to begin filming for Gen V’s second season.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Perdomo moved to Southampton, England, as a child and was raised by his mother and stepfather. He held both British and American citizenship and had Latino heritage from Guatemala and the Dominican Republic through his mother’s side. He attended Redbridge Community School, where he served as head boy, and later studied at Peter Symonds College in Winchester, where he became student union president. Initially planning to pursue law, he instead followed his passion for acting, moving to London and training at the National Youth Theatre and Identity School of Acting.

Perdomo made his television debut in Hetty Feather (2017) before earning critical acclaim for Killed by My Debt (2018), which led to his BAFTA nomination. In 2018, he was cast as Ambrose Spellman in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, a role that was written for him after he initially auditioned for Riverdale. He was recognized as a Screen International Star of Tomorrow and a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit in 2019.

His film career began with the After series, where he portrayed Landon Gibson in three installments. He also lent his voice to Moominvalley and was set to appear in the upcoming film Bad Man. His final television role was in Gen V, where his unexpected passing led to production delays and the decision not to recast his character.

Perdomo died in a motorcycle crash at the age of 27 while traveling through Upstate New York en route to Toronto for Gen V filming. His tragic passing led the showrunners to rework the second season in his honor.
