In 1983, Krishnamoorthy left his native Tiruvannamalai and relocated to Madras with the goal of becoming a movie actor. Despite his initial failure, he joined the cast of Kuzhandhai Yesu (1984) as an office boy, and at the end of the shoot, he was given the position of production manager.
He then continued as a crew member on a number of movies and commercials. He was therefore initially billed as Manager Krishnamoorthy in movies Krishnamoorthy’s breakout performance as a comedic actor came from his role in Thavasi (2001).
In that film, he starred in a sequence when his character asked Vadivelu’s character for directions to the homes of George W. Bush and Osama bin Laden in an attempt to negotiate a peace accord between them. After that, he performed as a comic in a number of movies in the 2000s, frequently sharing scenes with Vadivelu.
Later on, he received praise from critics for his performances as Murugan, a corrupt police constable in Mouna Guru (2011) and a middle manager in a human trafficking organization in Bala’s Naan Kadavul (2009).
“There is an ice-cream seller played by Krishnamurthy who probably has got the meatiest role of his career,” a critic said of his character in Yaanai Mel Kuthirai Sawaari.
He passed away from a heart attack early on October 7, 2019, while filming in Kumily, Kerala, for Sakthi Chidambaram’s film Pei Mama. His spouse and two kids survived him.
