Bharathan is an Indian filmmaker and writer known for his work in Tamil cinema. He has collaborated with actor Vijay on two occasions in his career.
In the early stages of his career, Bharathan began as a dialogue writer under the guidance of film director Dharani. He contributed dialogues to movies like Vikram’s “Dhill” (2001), “Dhool” (2003), and Vijay’s “Ghilli” (2004), as well as Madhesh’s “Madhurey” (2004). He continued to work as a dialogue writer, with notable contributions including Ajith Kumar’s “Veeram” (2014), directed by Siva.
Bharathan took on the role of director with his debut film, the thriller “Azhagiya Tamil Magan” (2007). This movie starred Vijay and Shriya Saran in leading roles and boasted a prominent technical team, including music composed by A. R. Rahman. Following his directorial debut, Bharathan directed his second film, the thriller “Athithi” (2014), featuring Nandha and Nikesh Ram. The film received a mixed response from critics.
Subsequently, he collaborated with Vijay once again in the movie “Bairavaa” (2017), which achieved a strong opening at the box office.
