Benjamin Gilani is an Indian actor who works in Hindi movies, television, and theatre.
Bishop Cotton School in Shimla was Gilani’s school. He studied and taught English literature at St. Stephen’s College in Delhi and attended the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune class of 1972, where he was classmates with Tom Alter and Naseeruddin Shah. He holds a postgraduate degree from Delhi University.
Together with Tom Alter and Naseeruddin Shah, he created “Motleys Productions,” a Mumbai-based theatrical company, in 1977. On July 29, 1979, Prithvi theatrical hosted their debut production of Waiting For Godot. In 2009, the play was brought back to life in honour of the group’s 30th anniversary.
