Born into a musically inclined family, with roots tracing back to the Kirana Gharana through her grandmother, Kusum Shende, and her sister, Sawani Shende, a classical vocalist. Bela pursued her passion for music from a young age.
Her professional journey soared after winning the Zee Saregama reality TV singing contest at the age of 16. Bela’s career blossomed as she lent her enchanting voice to compositions by eminent music directors such as A. R. Rahman, Ilayaraja, Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, Ajay–Atul, and others across multiple languages including Hindi, Marathi, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
