Arrol Corelli

Biography:

Indian music composer Arrol Corelli primarily composes music for Tamil films. His soundtracks for the movies Pisaasu (2014) and Pasanga 2 (2015) are well-known. In a middle-class household, Arrol Corelli was born and raised in Maraimalainagar, close to Chennai. At the age of five, he began studying Indian classical violin with Shri. Ravi Kumar, then with Kumari A. Kanyakumari.

He began giving performances in concerts all around south India when he was very young, and he won awards in competitions held at The Music Academy, Narada Gana Sabha, and Mylapore Fine Arts, among other places. At the age of ten, he began studying Western classical piano at London’s Trinity College of Music. 2008 saw him graduate from Shri Anand Jain Vidhyala in Tambaram with a degree in chartered accounting.

Corelli made contact with director Mysskin, who then engaged him to compose the soundtrack for Bala’s Pisaasu (2014). Since Arul is a common name, Mysskin also proposed Arrol Corelli, a stage name derived from the Italian violinist and composer Arcangelo Corelli.

In addition to composing the soundtrack for Pisaasu, Corelli performed on the violin during the movie’s “Nathi pogum koozhangal payanam” song. For Pisaasu, Corelli received a nomination in the Best Background Score category of the 2015 Vijay Awards.

After that, Corelli was given the opportunity to collaborate with director Pandiraj in the 2015 film Pasanga 2, which was produced by actor Suriya’s 2D Entertainment. Four songs and a theme tune are included in the album. Yugabharathi, Madhan Karky, and Na. Muthukumar wrote the words for the songs.

Corelli and Mysskin once again worked together on Thupparivaalan (2017). Additionally, he wrote the soundtrack for the films Champion (2019), Anbulla Ghilli (2022), and Annanukku Jai (2018).
