Anthony Russo

Biography:

The Russo brothers are two American directors, producers, and screenwriters, Anthony Russo (born February 3, 1970) and Joseph Russo (born July 18, 1971). Most of their work is directed by them jointly.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), they are most renowned for helming the following four movies: Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016), and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Endgame became the highest-grossing movie of all time for a brief period of time after grossing over $2.798 billion globally.

In addition, the brothers served as producers and directors for the sitcoms Happy Endings (2011–2012), Community (2009–2014), and Arrested Development (2003–2005). They were honored with an Arrested Development Primetime Emmy.

Anthony Russo was born on February 3, 1970.The sons of Patricia Gallupoli and judge and attorney Basil Russo, and Joseph Russo (born July 18, 1971) were reared in Cleveland, Ohio. Both of their parents are of Italian heritage.

Their families immigrated to Ohio from Sicily and Abruzzo, respectively, and were originally from Sicily. They went to Benedictine High School. While Anthony graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a business major before transferring to English, Joe graduated from the University of Iowa with a writing and English concentration.

In order to create, write, and produce their debut feature film, Pieces, the Russo brothers were graduate students at Case Western Reserve University (where Anthony studied law and Joe studied acting at UEA). Students loans and credit cards were used to finance the movie.

Steven Soderbergh, who was partnered with George Clooney in production, approached the two after watching Pieces at the Slamdance Film Festival and offered to produce their next movie.10] Featuring William H. Macy, Sam Rockwell, and George Clooney, this project was a crime comedy called Welcome to Collinwood.
