Biography:

Amanda Michelle Seyfried is an American actress who was born on December 3, 1985. Among her honors are a Primetime Emmy, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award nomination. Her films as a major actress have brought in more than $2.4 billion globally, and Time named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2022. At the age of 15, Seyfried started performing, playing recurrent parts in the soap operas All My Children and As the World Turns. Her breakout performance as Karen Smith in the cult classic teen comedy Mean Girls in 2004 marked her shift to cinema acting. Leading parts in the musical Mamma Mia brought her even more success! (2008), the romantic drama Dear John (2010), the horror comedy Jennifer’s Body (2009), and the science fiction action movie In Time (2011).

As Cosette in Les Misérables (2012), Linda Lovelace in Lovelace (2013), a pregnant parishioner in First Reformed (2017), and Ann Lee in The Testament of Ann Lee (2025), Seyfried branched out into tragic parts. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Marion Davies in David Fincher’s biographical drama Mank (2020).

She played Sarah Henrickson in HBO’s Big Love (2006–2011) and Elizabeth Holmes in the Hulu limited series The Dropout (2022), for which she won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress and a Golden Globe. Since then, she has acted in the Peacock crime drama Long Bright River (2025) and the Apple TV psychological drama The Crowded Room (2023).
