Abhishek Ray is an acclaimed Indian film composer, playback singer, instrumentalist, music arranger, and producer in Bollywood. He has composed music and provided playback vocals for notable Bollywood films, including “Paan Singh Tomar,” “Welcome Back,” “Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster,” “I Am Kalam,” “Yeh Saali Zindagi,” and “Tera Kya Hoga Johnny.”
Beyond his contributions to film music, Ray is recognized for his wildlife preservation efforts. He has created the Sitabani Wildlife Reserve, India’s first private wildlife reserve with wild tigers and leopards, home to about 350 bird species. His dedication to rewilding efforts has earned him international recognition, including the “Swabhiman Bharat” award.
Ray has also produced solo albums such as “Udaas Paani” and “Raat Chand Aur Main,” collaborating with renowned poet Gulzar. In 2016, he launched his music label, AR Productions, featuring classic singles with singers like Shreya Ghoshal and Hariharan. His song “Aye Jahaan Aasmaan,” performed with Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal, won the best song of the year at the Mirchi Music Awards 2017.
Ray’s contributions extend to composing music for documentaries, including “The Maharaja Of Jodhpur: The Legacy Lives On,” which won the 2006 Indian Telly Award for Best Music. He is a naturalist and a government-certified tiger and leopard tracker, running the Sitabani Wildlife Reserve next to Corbett National Park. He is also the composer and singer of India’s national anthem on tiger conservation.
