Sakshi Tanwar

Biography:

Indian actress and presenter Sakshi Tanwar mainly appears in Hindi-language movies and television shows. Tanwar is considered among the highest-paid television actresses in India. Tanwar is widely recognised for her portrayal of Parvati Agarwal in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Priya Sharma Kapoor in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain.

Since making her cinematic debut in 2016, Tanwar has starred in the historical drama Samrat Prithviraj (2022) and the biographical sports movie Dangal (2016). In addition, Tanwar was praised for her performance in television for the shows Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat (2017–2019) and Mai: A Mother’s Rage (2022), the latter of which earned her a Filmfare OTT Award.

Tanwar was born in 1972 or 1973 into a middle-class Rajput household in Alwar, Rajasthan, India, to former CBI officer Rajendra Singh Tanwar. Before graduating from Lady Shri Ram College in New Delhi, she had her education at several Kendriya Vidyalayas. Prior to this, she worked as a sales trainee at a five-star hotel in 1990 after finishing her pre-university coursework.  She served as the theatrical society’s president and secretary while in college.She auditioned for Doordarshan’s film songs-based program Albela Sur Mela in 1998 while studying for the administrative services and mass communications entrance exams after graduation, and was chosen to host the show.
