Indian actor Ravi Mohan, best known by his stage name Jayam Ravi, was born on September 10, 1980, and he performs in Tamil films. The title became a prefix to Ravi’s stage name until 2025 after his successful lead acting debut in Jayam (2003). Ravi is the son of famous cinema editor A. Mohan. He has received three SIIMA Awards, one Tamil Nadu State Film Award, and one Filmfare Award South.
Because of Jayam’s success, Ravi and his brother continued to work together on more movies, such as Thani Oruvan (2015), Unakkum Enakkum (2006), Santhosh Subramaniam (2008), and M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi (2004).
In Tirumangalam, Madurai, Ravi Mohan was born as M. Ravi. His mother is Telugu from Hyderabad, and his father is Editor Mohan, a Tamil Muslim Rowther . His sister, Roja, is a dentist, and his older brother, Mohan Raja, is a filmmaker, with Ravi in the majority of his productions. Ravi was raised in Hyderabad and Chennai. He finished his education at Chennai’s Jawahar Vidyalaya in Ashok Nagar.
At the age of twelve, he performed his arangetram after studying dance under Bharatnatyam performer Nalini Balakrishnan. He chose to pursue a career in movies after earning a degree in visual communication from Loyola College in Chennai. He also received acting instruction at Mumbai’s Kishore Namit Kapur Institute.
