Biography:

Atlee Kumar, known simply as Atlee, is a prominent Indian film director and screenwriter who primarily works in the Tamil film industry. He was born on September 21, 1986, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. Atlee gained recognition for his directorial ventures, which often feature commercial elements, engaging storytelling, and social messages.

After completing his schooling in Madurai, Atlee pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication from Loyola College, Chennai. During his college days, he actively participated in short film competitions and gained exposure to the world of filmmaking. His talent and passion for storytelling eventually led him to enter the film industry.

Atlee started his career in the film industry as an assistant director under acclaimed director S. Shankar. He worked with Shankar on several films, including “Enthiran” (Robot) and “Nanban” (a Tamil remake of the Bollywood film “3 Idiots”). This experience provided him with valuable insights into the filmmaking process and honed his skills as a director.

In 2012, Atlee made his directorial debut with the Tamil film “Raja Rani.” The romantic drama, featuring an ensemble cast, received positive reviews for its engaging narrative and sensitive portrayal of relationships.
