Producer Suresh Babu had gone ahead with a direct OTT release for Venkatesh’s Naarappa, which was a remake of the Tamil film Asuran, due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the much dreaded third wave of the pandemic in the state. While this was expected to be a safe move for the producer, it turned out to be rather experimental, with the audiences neither being happy with the direct OTT release, or the end result of the film.
Venkatesh’s upcoming film Drushyam 2 was also said to get a direct OTT release at the time, but in the last few days, it’s being said that the film will be released in theatres since the theatre business has once again opened up and is going quite well. An announcement regarding this is expected to be announced tomorrow, at 11:07 AM.
Drushyam 2 is a remake of the Malayalam film of the same name, which is directed by Jeethu Joseph who directed the original. The cast from the first movie is reprising their roles in the sequel, with the addition of a few more actors as well. Fans had wanted to watch the film in theatres and looks like they might finally be able to do that.
