Legendary Singer, SP Balasubramanyam passed away on 25th September and his last rites will be conducted at his farm house in Tamaraipakkam at Thiruvallur district. Tamil Nadu Government has given permission to family members of the legend and few very close friends from Industry to attend his funeral. Thiruvallur district collector has asked fans of the singer to not crowd at the singer’s farmhouse to witness the last rites. He requested them to cooperate with them as Covid infections could increase if people rabble at the spot.
Police have erected barricades for 2kms from the house and restricted entry through the barricades. Even VIPs will only be allowed to visit the site in small clusters. Government has even asked a major number of celebrities to show some restraint and stay away from attending the event, if they can. Around 10:30 AM, on Saturday, SPB’s family started the last rites of the singer in traditional Hindu style. His family members have requested privacy from heavy media coverage of the event. Vijay, Devi Sri Prasad and several other celebrities living in Chennai, attended the funeral.
