Story:

Se7en (1995) is a crime thriller of a psychological genre filmed by David Fincher according to the script written by Andrew Kevin Walker. The story features a veteran detective William Somerset (Morgan Freeman) who is about to retire from the police force together with his young colleague Detective David Mills (Brad Pitt). The two detectives are supposed to investigate some horrible murders in which the criminal stages each murder according to one of the seven deadly sins which are gluttony, greed, sloth, lust, pride, envy, and wrath. The investigation shows the detectives that the murders are a part of the elaborately crafted plan to reveal the moral corruption of humans.

The more detectives try to get involved into the crimes of John Doe (Kevin Spacey) and understand the way he acts, the more frightening, manipulating, and psychologically intimidating world of violence appears before their eyes. In the movie such themes as sin, morality, despair, violence, and darkness of the urban life are raised, and the atmosphere of the picture is gloomy and oppressive from the very beginning. Such Fincher’s cinematic style as dark photography, rainy scenes, claustrophobic settings, and minimalist vision became the trademarks of this film.
