Story:

In 2025, Rajeshwar Kalisamy made his directorial debut with the Tamil comic drama film Kudumbasthan, which was produced by S. Vinoth Kumar under the Cinemakaaran banner. In addition to R. Sundarrajan, Guru Somasundaram, Kudassanad Kanakam, and Nivedita Rajappan playing significant roles, the film’s main actors include K. Manikandan and Saanve Megghana. Sujith N. Subramaniam handled the film’s cinematography, Kannan Balu edited it, and Vaisagh composed the soundtrack.

After eloping and getting married a year ago, Naveen and his wife Vennila “Nila” are now expecting a kid. Naveen is the only provider for Vennila’s family after being disowned by them. He pledges his mother, Subbulakshmi, that he will finance her religious pilgrimage throughout India, offers to help Vennila with her UPSC exam preparation, and promises his father, Palanisamy, that he will remodel their home. Following an altercation with their customer, Manikchand, Naveen, a designer for an advertising agency, and his friend Simson lose their jobs.

Naveen keeps his job loss a secret from his family because of fear of embarrassment in front of his brother-in-law, Rajendran, a cruel and money-minded person who frequently makes fun of him for being poor and a loser. As Naveen starts looking for a new job, Simson assists him in obtaining a loan of Rs. 20,000 via a mobile app. With the assistance of his pals, he swiftly closes the transaction before the family learns the truth.

For a commercial deal, Rajendran asks to meet with Naveen’s boss. Naveen persuades Bagyaraj, a former coworker, to pose as their manager in an attempt to hide his termination. Naveen uses his old automobile as security to secure a Rs. 1 lakh loan from a local moneylender in order to keep up the farce. Regretfully, he also loses the job he was expecting. In order to restore their family’s fortune, Palanichamy’s astrologer suggests getting married again. The costs are transferred to Rajendran by Naveen. But when Rajendran learns of Naveen’s job loss, he publicly humiliates him by telling his family the truth.

Subbulakshmi uses her relative Ponnusamy to lease a bakery premises in order to assist Naveen in starting a business. Naveen establishes his bakery after taking up a loan from another moneylender. But soon after, a more well-known bakery opens up shop nearby, slowing down Naveen’s operations and making it harder for him to make the lease payments. Vennila, meanwhile, passes her UPSC preliminary exam. Naveen accrues more debt as a result of his attempts to renovate his bakery. Rajendran makes fun of Naveen’s difficulties and implies that he ought to have shown regret to his previous job.

When Naveen doesn’t pay interest, his debtors band together and assault him. Ponnusamy steps in and forces Naveen’s debtors to pay back the lease, which is Rs. 3,15,000, in 15 days. Palanisamy’s friends suggest a real estate transaction with a Rs. 3,50,000 commission. A two-wheeler puncture shop owner who was willing to sell his land is met by Naveen and Simson in a hurry. Naveen meets with the Singapore land buyer and presents the required paperwork on the fourteenth day, avoiding Ponnusamy and other debtors. The buyer accepts the transaction but only offers Rs. 1 lakh in lieu of the Rs. 3.5 lakh agreed-upon commission.

Naveen enrages his parents by turning down the offer and returning the money. Rajendran is getting ready to move to Shanghai for a job that is coming up. He irritates his wife, Anitha, by feigning to study Chinese and embracing Chinese customs. Because of Rajendran’s abusive behavior, she even intends to seek for divorce. However, Rajendran is asked to apologize for his outburst during a meeting, and the project is given to someone else. However, rather of offering an apology, Rajendran quits his job and sobs in front of Anitha, which makes her rethink her divorce intentions.

Naveen is evicted from the leased property by Ponnusamy, but on Vennila’s recommendation, he gets a call from his previous boss, Mohan Ram, offering him his old job back. After an argument, Naveen confronts Vennila for setting up the job, forcing her to apologize for marrying him. Naveen puts aside his dignity, apologizes to Manikchand, and grudgingly returns to work. Naveen starts to pay off his debts and fulfill his obligations to his wife, mother, and father. But Vennila’s remarks still trouble him, and he considers relocating to Qatar out of concern that he won’t be able to support his family in the future.

Naveen claims that his family only respected him while he was employed, therefore when they learn of his plans, he is leaving. When Vennila starts having labor pains during the dispute, they quickly drive to the hospital in Naveen’s old automobile. While traveling, Anitha quarrels with Rajendran about his controlling conduct, and Vennila clarifies any misconceptions over her in-laws’ treatment of her.

After giving birth to a daughter, Vennila acknowledges that Naveen is a hero. Naveen agrees when she asks him to stay with her. Finally, Rajendran apologizes to Anitha, Palanisamy works out his issues with his wife, and Vennila’s parents get back together with Naveen’s family.
