Kaalidhar Laapata

Story:

Madhumita is the writer and director of the 2025 Indian Hindi-language drama film Kaalidhar Laapata, which translates to “Kaalidhar is missing.”  In the film, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and child actor Daivik Bhagela play minor roles, while Abhishek Bachchan plays the lead character of Kaalidhar.  The Hindi version of Madhumita’s 2019 Tamil film K.D. is produced by Zee Studios and Emmay Entertainment. On July 4, 2025, it made its debut on the ZEE5 streaming service.

The narrative centers on Kaalidhar, a middle-aged man who, after learning of his family’s intention to desert him during a religious event, begins to experience memory loss and feelings of desolation. Kaalidhar decides to go alone and sets off on a journey where he encounters an eight-year-old orphan named Ballu. Kaalidhar rediscovers happiness and purpose when the unusual pair becomes friends and embarks on a road journey throughout India to check things off his bucket list.  It addresses life’s various emotions. On the one hand, human greed and severe selfishness, and on the other, love and affection to view life from a new perspective.
