Pragati Deshmukh

Biography:

Indian producer, author, content curator, and storyteller Pragati Deshmukh has worked in the media and entertainment sector for more than 20 years. She currently serves as Zee Studios’ Head of Content as of 2025, where she is in charge of a wide range of projects in many forms and genres, such as television shows and movies. Her most recent works are The Broken News, Kaalidhar Laapata, and an upcoming slate that includes Dhadak 2.

Deshmukh has held managerial and creative positions at major networks like BBC Studios India, Walt Disney India, and Discovery over the years. She formerly worked at ZEE5 as a senior content leader, where she was instrumental in the creation of seven original series.

She developed her storytelling skills in visual media early in her career while working as an assistant director on the Hindi feature film Barfi! (2012). She is a published novelist in addition to her career in streaming and film. In addition, she is writing her second book, a thriller that is based on factual information on India’s illicit wildlife trafficking. Outside of work, she likes to travel, cook, and take care of animals.
