Telugu Cinema has always been one Industry with many talented individuals coming together from different areas and positions in the society. The togetherness between the actors and a feeling of one community, actor’s community has been challenged by the recent Nandi Awards controversy. Government committee examined the various entries and decided to go ahead with their choices in respective categories. A movie like Manam being ignored and the reasons given for giving Legend, an award has given rise to the huge controversy.
Naga Chaitanya won an award for the movie, but as a supporting actor and the hero, still did not react on receiving an award from State Government for the first time. Nandamuri Balakrishna is facing many more accusations for being completely partial towards his movies and community members. Even the major committee members belong to one community and this made few others to raise their voice against it. Some have named it as a community war and domination game.
Makers like Nallamallapu Bujji, Guna Sekhar, Bandla Ganesh and many others have lashed out on announcing the awards only to certain films. In the end, the row about the awards is bringing out a difference that existed in the Industry and it is bringing out some cruel facts of favouritism too. In any case, if you give awards to certain movies that appear not to be deserving just to please a person, you wil lose the credibility but here the situation is worsening with every moment. Will some big heads come out and look to bring everyone close again? We have to wait and see.
