Director Shankar is the man responsible for huge budgets and universal subjects in South Cinema. His dare to dream and execute attitude, brought many opportunities to other filmmakers as well. SS Rajamouli credits the director for pushing the envelope and letting makers like him dream even bigger. While talking at an interview, he said that he started wondering about the subjects he needs to choose, if he needs to make movies that fit OTT market better. He said that filmmaking Business could see it as the future and he started thinking that way too.
If a person like Shankar who saw great potential in making films on larger than life themes as a better option for commercial filmmaking as early as 90’s, he might have saw some potential in OTT markets too. No wonder, many TFI well-established directors are also looking to become producers on the platforms. If they are involved big actors will also tend to join these productions. Looks like suddenly the recent pandemic has opened another potential market for filmmakers.
