Zoe Saldaña

Biography:

The actress Zoë Yadira Saldaña-Perego is née Saldaña Nazario, born on June 19, 1978. Her Latin American Spanish name is Primarily recognized for her roles in science fiction film series, she has acted in four of the seven highest-grossing movies ever made, including the top three (Avatar, Avatar: The Way of Water, and Avengers: Endgame). She is the second highest-earning lead actress and the highest-grossing actress overall as of 2024, with her roles in films making over $15 billion globally.  Her honors include a Golden Globe, an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, a SAG Award, and a Cannes Film Festival Award. She was listed among the top 100 important persons in the world by Time magazine in 2023.

Saldaña, who has dancing training, made her acting debut in 1999 as a guest star on Law & Order. She portrayed a ballet dancer in Center Stage (2000), her first movie role. Her role beside Britney Spears in the road movie Crossroads (2002) brought her early fame. Saldaña’s appearances as Nyota Uhura in the Star Trek reboot film series and Neytiri in James Cameron’s Avatar film series marked a career breakthrough starting in 2009. From Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023), she played Gamora in five Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.

In addition to her trademark work, Saldaña starred in the 2022 Netflix romantic drama miniseries From Scratch and the science fiction movie The Adam Project. She started starring as a CIA operative in the Paramount+ spy series Lioness in 2023. Saldaña won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2024 for her role in the musical crime drama Emilia Pérez.
