Y. Gee. Mahendra

Biography:

Y. Gee. Mahendran was born on January 9, 1950. Mahendra, G., or Y. G. Mahendraa is a Tamil Nadu-born Indian actor, dramatist, singer, playwright, and comedian. He has performed in several plays and movies. He is Y’s child. Rajalakshmi Parthasarathy, the founder and dean of the Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan series of schools and the nephew of renowned Tamil director K. Parthasarathy, are two of the pioneers of contemporary Tamil play. Balaji. Mahendran is also a brother to Rajinikanth and Mohanlal and a cousin of actress Vyjayanthimala.

On January 9, 1950, Y. G. Mahendran was born to Y. G. Parthasarathy and Y. G. Rajalakshmi. In 1952, Y. G. P. established the United Amateur Artists (UAA), one of the first theatrical organizations in Madras. He became one of the most successful dramatists of his day with the success of his theater company. Mrs. Rajalakshmi, popularly known as Mrs. Y.G.P., was Mahendran’s mother and the head of the Padma Seshadri Group of Schools. As a social service project for the members of the Nungambakkam Recreation Club, the school began modestly in 1959 with a batch of eleven pupils in a thatched shed on the terrace of the Y.G.P. residence. Since then, it has grown to become one of the greatest schools in India.

Mahendran, who comes from a family of theater enthusiasts, showed an early interest in drama. He received praise for his work as the comedian in school productions. After completing his education at Don Bosco Egmore, he pursued an MBA and a Chemical Engineering degree at the A. C. College of Technology in Guindy. He was hailed as a potential movie actor throughout his undergraduate years. He joined the United Amateur Artists (UAA), his father’s theater group, while he was only beginning his adolescence. This gave him the break he needed. His first few plays were enormous hits that drew tens of thousands of spectators. Mahendran’s name had gained notoriety throughout the city. When the time came to decide between acting and his career, he went with acting.
