Vikramaditya Motwane is an Indian film director, producer, and screenwriter active in Hindi cinema. He is renowned for directing films such as Udaan (2010), Lootera (2013), Trapped (2017), and Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (2018).
Motwane’s directorial debut, Udaan (2010), was featured in the Un Certain Regard category at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival and won seven Filmfare awards. His second film, Lootera, a high-budget Bollywood period romance, was released on July 5, 2013. His third film, Trapped, a survival drama starring Rajkummar Rao, hit theaters on March 17, 2017. His fourth film, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, was released on June 1, 2018. Additionally, Motwane created Netflix’s first Indian series, Sacred Games, and directed the film AK vs AK in 2020.
Motwane serves on the board of the Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image. Born on December 6, 1976, he comes from a diverse background, with a Sindhi father and a Bengali mother. He is married to photographer Ishika Mohan, who appeared as Rohan’s mother in his debut film, Udaan.
