Vikas Kumar is an Indian actor, producer, and dialogue coach, recognized for his diverse roles across various platforms. He is notably known for portraying ACP Khan in the International Emmy Awards-nominated series Aarya, senior inspector Rajat in CID, Abhay in Hamid, Major Prem in Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran, and Santosh in the Netflix series Kaala Paani. Additionally, he has contributed as a dialogue coach in Hindi films such as Ishqiya, Shakuntala Devi, and Udaan.
Hailing from Gaya, Kumar’s father was a doctor in Bihar. He pursued his education at Welham Boys’ School, Dehradun, and holds an MBA degree. His journey into acting began with a three-month workshop under the esteemed theater director Barry John.
Married to Raavi Sehgal, Kumar is a father to a daughter named Rabani. He has showcased his talent in various theatrical productions, including The Legend of Ram– Prince of India, The Fifty Day War, Kamra Number 420, and Khamosh! Adalat Jaari Hai. Notably, Kumar and the cast of The Legend of Ram- Prince of India were honored by the then President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in 2004.
His television credits include roles in Powder (2010) as Umesh Jagdale and Khotey Sikkey (2011) as Senior Inspector Damodar Deshmukh. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Inspector Rajat in the long-running TV series CID during 2012–2013.
In the realm of cinema, Kumar has appeared in Hindi films like Handover (2012), Prithipal Singh- A Story (2015), Ajji (2017), and Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran (2018).
In 2020, Kumar starred in the popular Disney+ Hotstar web-series Aarya, portraying the role of ACP Younus Khan. Additionally, he produced the short film Sonsi (Shadow Bird), which received accolades including the ‘Best Film’ award at the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival 2021 and the ‘Best Cinematography’ award (Non-Feature category) at the 67th National Awards.
