Vijaya Bapineedu, originally named Gutta Bapineedu Chowdary, was an Indian film screenwriter and director known for his significant contributions to Telugu Cinema. He embarked on his career as an editor for a magazine and later went on to direct notable films like “Maga Maharaju” (1983), “Gang Leader” (1991), and “Magadheerudu” (1986).
Born on September 22, 1936, in the village of Chataparru near Eluru to Seetha Ramaswamy and Leelavathy, Bapineedu earned a B.A. in Mathematics from C.R.R. College in Eluru. Before venturing into the world of filmmaking, he worked as an editor for an entertainment magazine called Vijaya.
Sadly, Vijaya Bapineedu passed away due to Alzheimer’s disease at his residence in Hyderabad on February 11, 2019, at the age of 82.
