Varun Grover

Biography:

Varun Grover, a multi-faceted Indian personality, is recognized as a writer, comedian, poet, actor, and filmmaker. His exceptional talent was acknowledged when he received the Best Lyricist award at the 63rd National Film Awards in 2015 for his work on the song “Moh Moh Ke Dhaage” from the film Dum Laga Ke Haisha.

Alongside his creative endeavors, Grover is also known as the co-creator of Aisi Taisi Democracy, a popular political satire show. In 2017, he collaborated with US-based producer Krishna Chetan to release “Beete Dino Ke Geet,” showcasing his versatility in music.

Notable recent projects include Qala (2022), Dunki, and Merry Christmas in 2023, as well as his directorial debut, All India Rank (2024), which premiered as the closing film at the 52nd IFFR.

Born on January 26, 1980, in Sundernagar, Himachal Pradesh, to a Punjabi family, Grover’s upbringing involved residing in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, and Sundernagar, before settling in Lucknow during his adolescent years. He pursued civil engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi, graduating in 2003.

Aside from his creative pursuits, Grover is known for his political comedy, offering satirical insights into contemporary events.
