Varun is an Indian actor who primarily appears in Tamil films. He made his debut in the film industry in 2011 under the stage name Vikaash in a movie titled “Parimala Thiraiarangam,” which was produced by Sriman. However, this film faced production issues and was not released in theaters.
Afterward, Varun decided to shift his career focus and became an assistant director, working under the guidance of director A. L. Vijay. During this period, he worked on the production of “Thalaivaa” in 2013. A. L. Vijay, who later became a producer, encouraged Varun to consider acting again and cast him in the thriller film “Oru Naal Iravil” in 2015, which was directed by film editor Anthony. In this movie, Varun played the role of a thirty-year-old auto driver and had to gain 15 kilograms (33 pounds) for the character. Although the film didn’t perform well commercially, it received positive reviews from critics.
Prabhu Deva, another prominent figure in the Tamil film industry, recommended Varun to appear in the fantasy thriller “Bogan,” where he portrayed a police officer and had to put on more weight for the role. Varun has also been part of other films, such as “Sometimes,” where he played a drug addict, and “Neruppu Da,” where he had a supporting role alongside actors like Vikram Prabhu and Sayyeshaa.
Varun made his debut as a lead actor in the 2019 Tamil comedy-drama film “Puppy,” in which he starred alongside Samyuktha Hegde. He later appeared in “Vinodhan,” a production venture by Prabhu Deva, where he portrayed a character with obsessive–compulsive disorder.
