Vani Viswanath

Biography:

Vani Viswanath is a prominent Indian actress known for her work in Malayalam and Telugu cinema. She received recognition in 2000 when she won the Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actress for her outstanding performance in the movie “Susanna,” directed by T. V. Chandran.

She earned the title of “Action Queen” in the Malayalam film industry, and in 2017, she became a member of the Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh.

Born as the fourth of five children to Malayali parents, Thazhathuveettil Vishwanathan, an astrologer, and Girija, a housewife, in Ollur, Thrissur, Vani’s journey began. She attended St. Raphael’s Convent Girls High School in Ollur and continued her education in Chennai. At the age of 13, her father, who was an astrologer, predicted that she would become an actress and also venture into politics.

Throughout her career, Vani appeared primarily in Malayalam and Telugu films, sharing the screen with renowned actors like Mammootty in “The King,” Mohanlal in “Usthad,” and Suresh Gopi in “Chinthamani Kolacase.” She also made appearances in Kannada and Tamil cinema, establishing herself as one of the leading stars in South India during her time.

One of her notable successes was the Telugu film “Gharana Mogudu,” in which she starred alongside Chiranjeevi, and it became a massive hit. Vani also acted in two Hindi films, “Jung” and “Bhishma,” alongside superstar Mithun Chakraborty.

During her collaboration with actor Baburaj in several films, a romantic relationship blossomed, eventually leading to their marriage in 2002. The couple has since welcomed two children into their family.
