Indian director V. Z. Durai is employed in the Tamil cinema business. Eventually, Durai approached S. S. Chakravarthy about collaborating with Ajith Kumar on the movie Mugavaree (2000). Chakravarthy was instrumental in shooting and editing the film, as Durai had no prior experience with film. He also helped sign Jyothika, who ended up being a blockbuster. Before the movie came out, Ajith gave Durai a car as a gift because he was pleased with the outcome.
Mugavaree was in theaters for a whole 100 days. Due to the movie’s popularity, Durai and Kumar decided to work together again, this time starring R. Madhavan and Vikram. They eventually abandoned and dropped the movie, though. Later, the Mugavaree production firm proposed that Durai direct Kadhal Sadugudu, a low-grossing movie starring Vikram and Priyanka Trivedi.
Thotti Jaya, which starred Silambarasan and Gopika, was directed by Durai in 2005 and was a crime drama. At theaters, this movie was a huge hit. Thotti Jaya Grown into a cult classic over time, it was still praised by fans and the media fifteen years later. A sequel to this is eagerly awaited. It was Silambarasan’s first foray into the world of gangsters. Bharath and Meera Jasmine starred in Durai’s fourth film, Nepali. The reviews for this movie were divided, but overall it did quite well at the box office. Critics found it to be significantly different from Durai’s regular products.
