Ujaan Ganguly
Biography:
Ujaan Ganguly is a renowned Indian director, writer, and actor in the world of Bengali entertainment. He came into limelight when he portrayed the character of the legendary sweet maker Nabin Chandra Das in the period drama film Rosogolla (2018), for which he bagged the Best Debut Actor title. Later on, he starred as an idealistic young doctor combating superstitious practices among villagers in the relevant movie Lokkhi Chhele (2022). Having switched to being a director, Ganguly has developed an artistic profile based on highly experimental narrative methods.
He has worked as the main writer and director of Netflix’s highly innovative animated mythological series called Kurukshetra (2025), where the Mahabharata war has been recreated with the help of unique warrior portraits narrated by Gulzar. Further on, he directed his debut full-length film – the dark fantasy social thriller Katukutu Buro (2026). The vigilante superhero movie, inspired by Sukumar Ray’s nonsensical rhymes, saw Ganguly functioning not only as a director and screenplay writer but also as the lead actor. Educationally, he has obtained a Master’s degree in World Literatures and Cinemas at Oxford University, being an Ertegun Scholar.
