Udhay Avishek Karthik

Biography:

Indian actor Udhay Avishek Karthik has acted in Tamil-language motion pictures. Karthik, who is close to filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon, had assisted Menon on the films Pachaikili Muthucharam (2007) and Vaaranam Aayiram (2008) before the director’s experimental thriller Nadunisi Naaygal gave him his big debut as an actor.

Karthik was born to a Tamil mother from Sivakasi, Suryakala Yalamanchili, and a Telugu father from Tirupathi, Mohan Reddy. He is the nephew of seasoned actress Sridevi and the brother of actor Maheswari.

In 2006, Karthik became a part of Gautham Menon’s directing team and collaborated with him on the film Pachaikili Muthucharam. Later, Menon said that Karthik would be one of the four new male stars in a film titled Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikaalam.

With Trisha headlining an ensemble cast, the film’s mid-2007 filming got delayed and ultimately shelved, with the backdrop of Chennai’s IT industry.

Karthik thereafter carried on working with Menon as an assistant director, appearing in Vaaranam Aayiram (2008) in a supporting role as Suriya’s buddy Mahesh. After that, he decided not to continue with Menon’s crew for Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010). However, he received an offer to appear with Veera and Sameera Reddy in the director’s experimental film Nadunisi Naaygal (2011). Acknowledged in the movie as Deva, he toned and sculpted his figure to be a credible police officer. The movie received a mixed reception when it first came out.
