Indian screenwriters Udaykrishna and Sibika K. Thomas are well-known for their contributions to Malayalam cinema. The majority of their works fall into the masala, action crime, and comedy genres. Mattupetti Machan (1998), Udayapuram Sulthan (1999), Dhosth (2001), Thuruppu Gulan (2006), Paul Twenty:20 (2008), Runway (2004), Kochi Rajavu (2005), Pokkiri Raja (2010), Christian Brothers (2011), and Mayamohini (2012) are only a few of the movies they wrote.
The pair split up in 2015. Udayakrishna carried on writing scripts. Pulimurugan (2016), the first Malayalam movie to make over ₹100–150 crore and the highest-grossing Malayalam film, was Udayakrishna’s first script as a single writer.
Udayakrishna and Sibi began their professional lives as assistant directors. While Udayakrishna worked as an assistant director under Balu Kiriyath, Ali Akbar, K. Madhu, and Venu B. Nair, and as a screenwriter for A.R. Mukesha, Sibi supported Balu Kiriyath and Sandhya Mohan. Manoj K. Jayan encouraged them to collaborate and consented to feature in their first film as director. But that endeavor did not succeed. They next authored Hitler Brothers (1997) for Sandhya Mohan, which was their first script, and Mayajalam (2019) for Balu Kiriyath. Both movies were a box office failure. Jose Thomas’s Mattuppetti Machan, the pair’s breakthrough film, was followed by Udayapuram Sulthan. Sundra Purushan followed, with a mediocre degree of success.
