Tushar Paranjape
Biography:
Tushar is a screenwriter who has written feature films in English, Hindi, and Marathi. He started out as a filmmaker by making his own short films and working with Marathi filmmakers who won national awards, including Sumitra Bhave, Sunil Sukathankar, Sachin Kundalkar, and Sandeep Sawant. In 2011, he finished his postgraduate studies in screenplay writing at FTII, Pune, where he also worked as a screenwriting department instructor. The highly regarded Killa, his debut feature film, garnered numerous honors, including a National Award for Best Marathi film and the Crystal Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. Additionally, Tushar wrote the screenplay for a feature film in English and Spanish that will be directed by seasoned Iranian director Mohsen Makhmalbaf.
In 2017, Tushar’s Hindi feature film Eiffel was one of the top ten films chosen by the Screenwriter’s Association (SWA) to apply for the esteemed MPA-APSA script development fund. The critically acclaimed film Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, which aims to offer a never-before-seen love story while simultaneously posing disquieting concerns about society’s perverted ideas of love, was his most recent release. Tushar, together with Supratik Sen and Abhishek Kapoor, won the Screenwriters Association award for “Best Story” and the Filmfare Award for “Best Original Story” for Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. He’s working on an original horror film right now.
