Tim Porter

Biography:

British film editor Tim Porter was born in May 1974. He is well renowned for his work on Game of Thrones on HBO and a number of other prominent British television shows. He co-produced and edited House of the Dragon, a prequel to Game of Thrones. Miguel Sapochnik’s “Battle of the Bastards” earned him an Emmy in 2016. To produce a flawless battle scenario, he “sifted through nearly 100 hours of footage.” He also received the Eddie and HPA awards in 2016.

For Game of Thrones  “The Long Night” (season 8, episode 3), he received his second Emmy in 2019 (Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for A Drama Series). Sapochnik directed the episode once more. According to Porter, it’s “a constant search for the correct rhythm.” For that same episode, he received the American Cinema Editors 2020 Eddie. According to Variety’s 2016 “Below The Line Impact Report,” he is “an editor capable of building suspense and excruciating drama.” For editing Game of Thrones, he has been nominated for four Emmys and four Eddies. He belongs to the American Cinema Editors.
