Tim Despic
Biography:
Tim Despic was born in Montreal, Quebec, and his family moved to the UK when he was three years old. He received his education at the University of Bath, where he earned an honors degree in economics and politics. He received classical training as a pianist from an early age and went back to school to earn a master’s degree in Creative Music Technology from Newcastle University. He is a multi-instrumentalist who specializes in blending modern acoustic and electronic soundscapes with traditional orchestrations. He lists Scott Walker, Danny Elfman, and Bernard Herman as his primary influences.
He co-founded Veneration Music Ltd. in 2005 with fellow composer and colleague James Edward Barker, a UK-based music production firm that coordinated and wrote scores for motion pictures. Stefan Schwartz, the director of Shooting Fish, directed his debut film, The Best Man, a $11 million romantic comedy starring Seth Green, Stuart Townsend, Amy Smart, and Simon Callow. After that, he collaborated with seasoned director Robert Young, who is well-known for his comedies including A Fish Called Wanda’s sequel, Fierce Creatures. The History of Mr. Polly, a $7 million British ITV production starring Lee Evans, and Jim Threapleton’s Extraordinary Rendition, starring Andy Serkis and Omar Berdouni, were both released on DVD by the BBC in 2007.
