Tahir Raj Bhasin, born on April 21, 1987, is an Indian actor active in Hindi films. Born in Delhi, he holds a master’s degree in media from the University of Melbourne. Bhasin marked his screen debut with Kismat Love Paisa Dilli (2012) and had brief roles in Kai Po Che! (2013) and One by Two (2014).
His official film debut came with Mardaani (2014), earning him a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor and a Screen Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role. He portrayed the antagonist in Force 2, and his subsequent film Chhichhore (2019) achieved blockbuster status. Bhasin also played Sunil Gavaskar in 83 (2021).
Bhasin, born in New Delhi, hails from an Air Force family. During his school days, he engaged in various extracurricular activities, including basketball, dance, and theatre. He commenced acting at 13 and received formal training at the Barry John Acting School. After studying political science at Hindu College, Delhi University, he pursued a master’s degree in media from the University of Melbourne.
In 2012, Bhasin committed to acting professionally, featuring in short films and TV commercials. His film journey includes appearances in Kismat Love Paisa Dilli (2013) and the acclaimed Mardaani (2014). He gained recognition for his role in Mardaani, portraying a Delhi-based human trafficking kingpin inspired by the TV series Breaking Bad.
His antagonist role in Force 2 (2016) earned him a Star Screen nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Bhasin’s accomplishments led to his inclusion in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list in 2017 and The Times of India’s list of top 50 most desirable men.
Bhasin walked the red carpet at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival for Manto, portraying 1940s Bollywood star Shyam. In 2019, he played a lead role in the blockbuster Chhichhore. In 2021, he portrayed Sunil Gavaskar in 83, a film about India’s first cricket World Cup victory.
His 2022 releases include Ranjish Hi Sahi, Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein, and Looop Lapeta, showcasing his transition to romantic lead roles. The Netflix series Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein became a hit, and Looop Lapeta topped Netflix India’s charts. Bhasin received acclaim for his performances in both projects.
In his personal life, Bhasin mentioned in a 2015 interview that he focused on his acting career, having limited time for relationships. Additionally, he has been involved in charitable activities, supporting the Smile Foundation through the “Ramp For Champs” fashion show in 2015.
