It was on September 1, 1933, that Thirunavukarasu was born. He was originally from the northern Ceylon region of Vaddukoddai. In the 1970 parliamentary election, Thirunavukarasu was the All Ceylon Tamil Congress (ACTC) candidate in Kankesanthurai.
However, he lost to S. J. V. Chelvanayakam, a candidate for the Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (Federal Party). The Tamil United Front (TULF) was created on May 14, 1972, by the ACTC, ITAK, Ceylon Workers’ Congress,
Eelath Thamilar Otrumai Munnani, and All Ceylon Tamil Conference Thirunavukarasu was appointed joint treasurer of the TUF.
Thirunavukarasu ran as the Tamil United Liberation Front’s candidate in Vaddukoddai for the 1977 parliamentary election. After the election, he was elected to Parliament. On August 1, 1982, Thirunavukarasu passed away from a heart attack.
