Biography:
Thoppilthodi Raheem Shamsudheen is a technocrat, film producer, and educator from India. He produced the Malayalam films Queen and 1983. In addition to his work in film, Shamsudheen is the chairman of the Cochin Institute of Science & Technology and the Cochin College of Engineering and Technology. In addition to being a technologist and angel investor, he works on a number of technological start-ups and media-related technology projects.
Shamsudheen was born to K Raheem and Khadeeja Beevi. He attended Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Thrissur for his education before graduating from Anna University in Chennai with a Bachelor of Technology from St Michael College of Engineering & Technology in Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu. Shamsudheen was involved in his entrepreneurial endeavors while still an undergraduate and gained recognition for assisting his undergraduate institution in increasing its admissions rates.In 2009, at the age of 24, Shamsudheen founded the Malabar College of Engineering and Technology (MCET) in Pallur, Thrissur, Kerala, in collaboration with a businessman from Malappuram, Kerala, based on his experience with undergraduate engineering education in the state. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the former president of India, officially opened the school.
