Susan Heyward

Biography:

Susan Heyward is an American actress known for her role as Sister Sage in season 4 of The Boys. She has starred in the PlayStation Network series Powers (2015–16) and the HBO period drama Vinyl (2016). From 2018 to 2019, she portrayed Tamika Ward in the Netflix comedy-drama Orange Is the New Black. On Broadway, she made her debut in The Trip to Bountiful (2013) and later played Rose Granger-Weasley in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (2018–2019).

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Heyward earned a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University. She began her career in Off-Broadway productions and made guest appearances in shows like Law & Order and 30 Rock. In 2009, she was a regular in Comedy Central’s short-lived series Michael & Michael Have Issues. She later had a recurring role in Fox’s thriller The Following (2014). Her Broadway debut came in 2013, performing alongside Cicely Tyson in The Trip to Bountiful. Her Off-Broadway credits include Sabrina Fair and The Purple Lights of Joppa Illinois.

Heyward’s film roles include Mother of George (2013) with Danai Gurira, Poltergeist (2015), The Incredible Jessica James (2017), and The Light of the Moon (2017). In 2015, she landed a lead role in Powers alongside Sharlto Copley and Eddie Izzard, though the series was canceled after two seasons. In Vinyl (2016), she played the secretary to Bobby Cannavale’s character. From 2018 to 2019, she starred as Tamika Ward, the new warden of Litchfield prison in Orange Is the New Black. In 2018, she joined the Broadway cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child as Rose Granger-Weasley.
