Indian model and actor Sumit Kaul was born on March 10, 1978, and is best known for his role as Umar Riaz in the online series Tanaav. Born in Bombay, Maharashtra, on March 10, 1978, Kaul is from a Kashmiri Pandit family that left the Kashmir Valley in the 1990s. He began his acting career in 2000 with the theater group Ek Jute, which was led by Nadira Babbar. He performed in a number of Hindi and Urdu plays for the next four years. In addition, he has appeared in TV series like Laagi Tujhse Lagan and Nazar, web series like Tanaav, and motion pictures including Haider, Laila Majnu, Mulk, and Hamid. In the film Afwaah, he most recently played Inspector Sandeep Tomar.
