Jayashree, formerly a model, is an Indian actress, voice actor, and screen name Sudha Rani. Her career has mostly involved Kannada cinema. She appeared in roughly 150 films as an actor, including a few in Telugu, Tulu, and Malayalam.
She performed in the 1978 film Kiladi Kittu, the 1980 film Kulla Kulli, the 1981 film Anupama, the 1981 film Bhagyavantha, and the 1981 film Ranganayaki. At the age of 13, she made her feature film debut in Anand (1986). For her roles in Mysore Mallige (1992) and Panchama Veda (1990), she has received two Karnataka State Film Awards and one Filmfare Award.
H. S. Gopalakrishna and Nagalakshmi were “a conservative Brahmin family” when Sudha Rani was born. The family resided in the Bengaluru neighbourhood of Malleswaram. Since the majority of Sudha Rani’s relatives were academics—many of them were doctors—she had aspirations of becoming a doctor. Renowned actor Chi. Udaya Shankar was her uncle.
