Biography:
Stanley Kubrick was an American filmmaker, director, screenwriter, producer, and photographer and is considered as one of the most important and influential filmmakers in the film industry. Stanley Kubrick was born in New York City on July 26, 1928, where he started out his career as a photographer for Look magazine. Some of his earliest films include ‘Fear and Desire’ (1953), ‘Killer’s Kiss’ (1955), and ‘The Killing’ (1956) and ‘Paths of Glory’ (1957), ‘Spartacus’ (1960). Stanley Kubrick became a respected filmmaker with more creative control over his work and a reputation for being meticulous in preparations, visuals, unconventional narrative techniques, and themes like violence, power, technology, and human psychology.
Some of the landmark films by Stanley Kubrick were ‘Lolita’ (1962), ‘Dr. Strangelove'(1964), ‘2001: A Space Odyssey'(1968), ‘A Clockwork Orange’ (1971), ‘Barry Lyndon’ (1975), ‘The Shining’ (1980), ‘Full Metal Jacket’ (1987) and ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ (1999). Stanley Kubrick won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects with his film 2001: A Space Odyssey and got four Academy Award nominations for Best Director. His films were highly recognized for cinematography, compositions, music used in films, and meticulous production techniques. 2001: A Space Odyssey, ‘A Clockwork Orange’, and ‘The Shining’ stand out as important landmarks in world cinema history. Stanley Kubrick died on March 7, 1999, in Hertfordshire, England, soon after making ‘Eyes Wide Shut’.
