Biography:

Shirley Setia is a singer and actress from New Zealand known for her contributions to the Indian film and music industries. Born in Daman, India, she moved with her family to Auckland, New Zealand, where she gained recognition as a YouTube musician, uploading covers of Bollywood songs while studying at the University of Auckland. Setia gained attention for her work and was featured in Forbes magazine as “Bollywood’s Next Big Singing Sensation.”

Her acting career began with the 2020 Hindi film Maska, released on Netflix. She later made her big-screen debut in the 2022 film Nikamma and also starred in the Telugu film Krishna Vrinda Vihari, which premiered on September 23, 2022. Setia’s rise to fame started with a contest held by T-Series, which she won with a YouTube entry filmed in her bedroom, earning her the nickname “Pyjama popstar” by the New Zealand Herald.

Setia has showcased her talent in various platforms, including a weekly radio show and local competitions in Auckland. Her performances in Mumbai and Hyderabad in 2016 marked her entry into the Indian music scene, gaining her recognition as India’s YouTube sensation by the Hindustan Times and as one of New Zealand’s top international artists by TVNZ.
