Shebin Benson

Biography:

Shebin Benson, born on November 27, 1995, is an Indian actor primarily active in Malayalam cinema.

He commenced his acting journey with a role in Aashiq Abu’s film “Idukki Gold” in 2013. Subsequently, he appeared alongside Mammootty in “Varsham.” His first venture as a male lead was in the movie “Kaly,” alongside a group of young actors.

Shebin Benson hails from a Christian Marthoma family in Nilambur, being the elder son of Chandy Benson and Sherly Benson. He completed his secondary education at Fatimagiri High School and Marthoma Higher Secondary School in Nilambur. Later, he pursued a Bachelor’s degree in B.Sc. Visual Communication from The SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Securing a role in “Idukki Gold” through auditions, Shebin portrayed the younger version of Maniyanpilla Raju. His performance in Mammootty’s “Varsham” garnered him recognition among Malayali audiences. Notably, he portrayed a teenaged Fahadh Faasil in Amal Neerad’s “Iyobinte Pusthakam,” alongside his brother Nebish Benson. He also appeared in music videos such as “Maya” from the band album “Blank Planet.”

Shebin continued to diversify his roles, playing characters such as the younger Dawood in “Inspector Dawood Ibrahim” and featuring in Don Max’s directorial debut “10 Kalpanakal.” He later starred alongside Asif Ali in “Kaattu” and made his debut as a male lead in “Kaly.” Additionally, he appeared in “Mr. & Ms. Rowdy” directed by Jeethu Joseph and “Paviyettante Madhurachooral” alongside Sreenivasan and Lena.

His individual hero debut came with “Onnonnara pranayakadha,” directed by Shibu Balan, where he shared the screen with Zaya David, Indy Palissery, Vinay Forrt, Sudheer Karamana, and Surabhi Lakshmi. Notably, he played a significant role in Aashiq Abu’s multi-starrer “Virus” (2019). His portrayal of “Yahiya” in the film earned him widespread acclaim.

Shebin’s role as Leen Zacaria in his recent release “Evidey,” directed by KK Rajeev, garnered him broader recognition among Malayalam audiences and received widespread appreciation. He played one of the lead roles alongside Manoj K Jayan and Asha Sharath.

His forthcoming projects include “2 Stroke,” directed by Roshni Dinaker, where he features as one of the leads alongside Sreenath Bhasi and Amith Chakalakkal, and “Bheeshma Parvam,” directed by Amal Neerad, starring Mammootty, Soubin Shahir, and Sreenath Bhasi.
