American actor Shea Whigham was born on January 5, 1969 and is most known for playing Elias “Eli” Thompson in the drama series Boardwalk Empire. Additionally, he starred in a number of movies, such as Silver Linings Playbook, The Wolf of Wall Street, and The Joker, as well as the first season of True Detective and the third season of Fargo.
Whigham, the son of lawyer Frank and school librarian Beth, was born in Tallahassee, Florida. When Whigham was five years old, the family relocated to Lake Mary, Florida. He went to high school at Lake Mary.
Before transferring to the State University of New York at Purchase, New York, where he was a member of a small acting school with just 31 students and a graduating class of eight seniors, Whigham attended Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas.
